1. Check the Mac and download the installer
Open the CoreTrailKit download page and choose Download for Mac. The public 0.1.13 build is for Apple Silicon; this release does not provide an Intel Mac or Windows installer. Downloading does not require an account.
Open the DMG and drag CTK to Applications. Launch that installed copy so the browser can return to the application registered on your Mac.
02
2. Start sign-in inside the app
Choose your interface language during onboarding and continue to Sign in with the browser. Complete login or registration in the browser tab opened by CTK. Use the normal account flow; do not paste a callback address from another attempt.
A locally running development build can still use the production website for authentication. Local refers to where the desktop software runs, not necessarily to a separate account environment.
03
3. Return from the browser
Wait for the connection confirmation. Choose Open CoreTrailKit if the browser asks for permission to open CTK, or use the page button if the prompt does not appear. The application-opening dialog belongs to the browser.
The handoff uses a temporary loopback callback on this Mac before returning to the completion page. A brief 127.0.0.1 address during that exchange is part of the desktop handoff; it is not a request to deploy a local website.
04
4. Verify the desktop session
Confirm that Home opens in CTK and your account appears in the lower sidebar. A successful website login in another tab is not the same check.
Connecting a repository is a separate action after sign-in. An empty Home screen on a first login does not mean authentication failed.
05
5. Recover an interrupted attempt
Keep CTK open while completing browser sign-in. If the app still requests authentication or reports an incomplete attempt, return to CTK and choose Open the browser again. Finish the new attempt instead of reusing an older tab.
Do not publish callback URLs, connection configurations or account tokens in a support thread. Report the visible error and which step failed. Signing out of CTK also invalidates its MCP client permissions; it is more than closing the app.
06
What success looks like
The installed app is open, Home is available and the expected account is shown. You can now choose Connect repository and set up a watch. No repository has to be uploaded to complete installation.
Know the limits
CTK 0.1.13 supports macOS on Apple Silicon. A browser website session alone does not establish a new desktop session.
